Elearning link to google classroom
Title

Hello and welcome to elearning.  It looks like we will be having school this way for a while.  I will be here to help in any way I can.  Mr. Brown will be available to answer questions as well.  Just know that this is a learning process for all of us but by working together, we can do it! I will do the best I can to educate your child but not overwhelm you as a parent. Please remember that our elearning will not look like it does in the classroom.  In class we do a lot of hands on activiites.  I do not want to post things that you have the added expense of printing off and doing either.  This will be a learning process as we figure out what works and what doesn't.  My goal is to help kids keep learning in fun ways that doesn't overwhelm anyone.   My hope is that everyone has been able to get a chrome book to use if you have no other device. Mr. Brown and the office staff can help you with that.  There are bound to be glitches, problems, and questions.  Just remember we are here to help and we will get through this!

Access the page by going to SCSC.  Click on elearning tab.  Choose Jackson and my name.  This takes you to the page you need to access any work I post for the day.

When you get to my page, on the left you will see page links to pages like iReady and Lexia.  When you click on this, your child can log in using thier badge if your device is equiped with a camera.  If not, simply use the username and password I provided.    The password is their student number followed by three zeros.

Your child can also access special teachers' classrooms by using their codes for thier class rooms.  If your child works with Mrs. Vest, you can access her room from my page also.  She will also provide her students things to do.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can email me at  between the hours of 9:00 to 3 during the school day.

I hope this is helpful and please remember we are in this together and we will do the best we can to keep learning while we are out of our classroom.

Hello and welcome! Today we are going to keep it simple.  My goal today for you is to just be sure you can log in and find the essentials.  I will be available between 9 and 3 Monday through Friday for questions you may have.

I would really like moms, dads, and or caregivers to email me and let me know what your email is so that we can better communicate. Some of you have emailed me before so I do have some.  Even if you have, it would be great if you can send me a hello just so I have it for sure. I have included assistants emails to help out. Mrs. Fields and Ms. Almarez are essential for our spanish families.  I will be talking with them to figure out how we can best help.

What I need from kids (and family) today or as soon as you can log on is just a few  things. First, send me your email so we can communicate. Next, log in and find the link for lexia and iReady.  Feel free to do 15 minutes of each if you like but at least log in so I know you can do it successfully. Kiddos are good at this because they have been doing it all year.  It just may seem strange doing it from home if you haven’t before. We did practice the day before we left and we were all successful at doing so. Then, , try logging into Mr. Wood’s class.  Today we would go to gym so use his code from our page and go check him out! Lastly, tell me two things. Give me a yuck and a woohoo! A yuck can be something you are not happy about or are worried about.  Then, give me a woohoo! This can be something you are happy about or something you want to share. This is where mommas and pappas are going to be a help! Feel free to scribe what your child has to say and even add a yuck and a woohoo of your own!  You can also email me with any questions and concerns you have. I may not have all of the answers right away but I will do my best to find them and answer you as quickly as I can. Remember, I am here to help and we are learning together.

So, to recap:

  1.  Take a deep breath and remember we are learning slowly together--smile!

  2. Log in to our page, find the essentials (lexia, iReady, etc.)

  3. Log in to Mr. Wood’s PE class

  4. Send me an email so I have it and we can communicate better.  Feel free to add any questions or concerns you have.

  5. Send me a yuck and  a woohoo!

3-24 lesson

Hello and welcome! This week we are going to keep it simple.  My goal today for you is to just be sure you can log in and find the essentials.  I will be available between 9 and 3 Monday through Friday for questions you may have.

Some of you have already been successful.  Great! If you haven’t had the chance yet, give it a try and reach out to me for questions. Be sure I have your email.  If you need translation, Mrs. Fields and Ms. Almarez can help.

If you haven’t yet, give me one yuck (something you are worried about or are sad about).  Then, give me a woohoo! This can be something you are happy about or something you want to share.  This is where mommas and pappas are going to be a help! Feel free to scribe what your child has to say and even add a yuck and a woohoo of your own!

Today, log into Lexia or iReady and do at least 15 minutes of each unless you already did your minutes.  If so, go to abcya and do some learning games. Next, go to library and type in the code to check out what fun things Mrs. Mikels is doing.  Last, read a book with Mom or Dad and tell me what you read and your favorite part of the story.

So, to recap:

  1.  Take a deep breath and remember we are learning slowly together--smile!

  2. Log in to our page, find the essentials (lexia, iReady, etc.).  IF you did this yesterday, go to abcya and play a game.

  3. Log in to Mrs. Mikels Library

  4. IF you haven’t yet, send me an email so I have it and we can communicate better.  Feel free to add any questions or concerns you have.

  5. Send me a yuck and  a woohoo! If you haven’t yet.

  6. Read a book with someone and tell me your favorite part of the story.

elearning 3-25

Good morning! It looks like most of us are navigating things pretty well.  This is great news! If you haven’t yet no worries! Take your time and let me know how I can help. Remember, I am still learning things too.  I am going to be posting lesson plans soon that look more like plans about what we should be learning instead of so much navigating the web page.   Things are changing for all of us minute to minute and this isn’t much different. I want to build some consistency though so it becomes easy to find and familiar...just like the routine of our regular classroom.  I want to get to the point where it is clear of what skills we are learning and what to do. I feel like we are still getting acquainted with things. I am adding links to our favorite class song and things we do. Check them out.  I will be available between 9 and 3 Monday through Friday for questions elearning you may have. If you need translation, Mrs. Fields and Ms. Almarez can help.

So, to recap:

  1. Log in to our page, and do 15 minutes of Lexia and iReady each day.

  2. Log in to Mrs. Porter’s class today and see what is happening in Music this week.

  3. IF you haven’t yet, send me an email so I have it so we can communicate better.

  4. Check out my fun section.  This will take you to some familiar brain breaks! Have fun!  See if you can beat mom or dad at the chicken dance.

  5.  Practice using our sight words for the week in a sentence. Click the links for sight word practice. Have mom or dad type and post your two sentences you used.  For example, our words this week are too, ten, and help. You could post I have ten friends too.  and I like to help.

  6.  Check out the links for practicing your letters and sounds.  Teach mom and dad our song and how we do it!

  7. Click on the link for counting.  Count to 100 with Jack. Then, post two things in your house and tell me which one is longer and shorter.  We should be learning about measurement this week. An example might be find your shoe and your mom’s shoe.  Tell me that your mom’s shoe is longer or shorter than yours.

I will be posting more tomorrow.   Stay well and safe and take your time!

sight word list

I am posting  a complete list of our sight words for the year.  I sent these home with kids earlier in the year but in case you misplaced them, here they are. You can practice recognizing them by using them in sentences, rainbow writing them, flash cards, or any other ways you would practice them at home.

Tuesday 3-31

Good morning,

Instead of posting each day on this page and my googleclassroom, I am going to post the dayś lesson on the google class room under assignments.  Just click on elearning to the right and look for todayś post from now on.  I think that will eliminate me posting the same thing twice.  I have included the links to take you to assignments in the lesson itself.  I will include them to the right as well.  There is a lot to do but take your time and do what you can when you can.  Remember this is just a small amount of what we would be doing if we were at school.  I have included spanish translations as well.  As always, we are here to help if you need anything.  Have fun!
